Research Interests

Aerial micro vehicles based on the flight study of flapping insects. We study the anatomy of insects and take high speed videos of flapping insects to produce 3D CAD models of insects and animations of their flight, which in tern are used as the input of fluid structure interaction analysis of insect flight. In addition, driving mechanism used by insects in flapping wings are studied. The outcome of these investigations is used in the bottom-up design of flapping aerial micro vehicles.
