Jubilee Prasad Rao, an MAE PhD student, wins $15,000 at Launch R to Start His Clean Energy Company

Jubilee Prasad Rao, a PhD student in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, finished second at Launch R student startup competition where he has won $15,000 to start his own company based on a turbine technology to capture tidal energy. He is the co-inventor with Prof. Diez of this patent pending technology. Jubilee has been a part of the "The Collaborative for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (CTEC)" which is a two semester sequence course offered by the Business School in conjunction with the MAE Department. This course joins engineering researchers with the MBA students to bring research to the market place and into application. With the help of this course, he has been able to apply his research to the market needs and pitch his desire to start a company at "Launch R" clean energy competition sponsored by the DOE and PSEG held on the 28th of April, 2017.
