The 3rd Thermal and Fluids Engineering Conference (TFEC) was held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from March 4-7, 2018. As the President of the American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers (ASTFE), which organizes these conferences, Professor Yogesh Jaluria welcomed the participants, outlined the status and vision of the society, presented awards, and chaired sessions and Board meetings of the society. The conference had about 400 papers, 4 Plenary talks, 9 keynote talks, 6 panel discussions and 6 special talks on entrepreneurship and communication in engineering.

Professor Jon Singer has been awarded the 2018 3M Non-Tenured Faculty Award. The 3M Nontenured Faculty Award was created over twenty-five years ago by 3M’s Technical Community in partnership with 3M Giving Program to invest in individuals who will lead university teaching and research programs in the future.

Professor Hao Lin (MAE, PI), together with Professor Jeffrey Zahn (BME, co-PI), and Professor Ramsey Foty (RWJ Medical School, co-PI) have been received an award by the National Institute of Health - National Cancer Institute to study the coupling between tension and adhesion for cells in the contexts of embryonic development, cancer metastasis, and wound healing.

Scalable and cost-effective manufacturing of thin film devices Engineers at Rutgers University–New Brunswick and Oregon State University are developing a new method of processing nanomaterials that could lead to faster and cheaper manufacturing of flexible thin film devices – from touch screens to window coatings, according to a new study.

A computational modeling of amoeboid cell swimming was unveiled in a recent article by Professor Bagchi together with his graduate student Eric Campbell. The model shows the generation of fingerlike projections that give unilateral movement of amoeboid cells.  Full Article >>
