Prof. Zhixiong Guo has been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Enhanced Heat Transfer, an international scientific journal, first published in 1994 by Begell House, Inc. The Journal aims at publishing original research contributions and reviews on theory and application in high-performance heat and mass transfer. It is an official journal of the American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers.

The National Science Foundation has awarded Prosenjit Bagchi (PI), Howon Lee (Co-PI), and Biju Parekkadan (co-PI, Rutgers BME) a 3-year grant for a project entitled "A Computational Study of Cell Locomotion in Complex Environments: Towards a Fluid Mechanical Understanding of Cancer Progression." This award starts July 1, 2018 and ends June 30, 2021.

Professor Yogesh Jaluria has just published an advanced book on materials processing. The title of the book is "Advanced Materials Processing and Manufacturing." It is published by Springer Publishing and is in their Mechanical Engineering Series. The book has the flavor of a monograph in the area of manufacturing. However, since the fundamental aspects are covered in detail, it can also be used as a text or reference book for elective courses and as a reference for engineers and researchers.

Professor Mina Pelegri (PI) and David I. Shreiber (co-PI) in collaboration John Georgiadis (PI), co-PI Konstantinos Arfanakis (co-PI) at IIT have been awarded a Collaborative Research to study Multiple Scale Biomechanics of Tissue Damage in the White Matter of the Human Central Nervous System. In this collaborative research project, the focus is on identifying the injury thresholds for individual axons within white matter when the tissue is exposed to dynamic, mechanical stretch.

Professor Xiaoli Bai has been recognized with the Outstanding Young Aerospace Engineer by the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M. This award is reserved to Texas A&M alumni under the age of 40 and have shown outstanding work in their field, plus be promising leaders for the future. They must have a strong commitment and interest in the University and the Department of Aerospace Engineering.

This spring, the US Department of Energy announced the renewal of Rutgers’ contract to serve as field managers for the Industrial Assessment Center Program through 2023. Professor Michael Muller and his team at the Center for Advanced Energy Systems have been leading this very successful technical assistance program since 1992!
